Natters & Nibbles is back in 2014

With the better weather just around the corner it means it is time to get our classic cars back out on the road

With a touch of spring in the air, over the last few days, we start to forget those dark, cold, damp, dreary days and nights. We can also look forward to British Summer Time on 31st March 2014 when the clocks are put forward an hour giving us more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings (sometimes called Daylight Saving Time) and hopefully we all start to feel a lot more positive, less apathetic and put that spring back in our step. In fact with more daylight hours, brighter days and warmer weather life certainly does become a bit easier and we can start to enjoy getting out in our classic cars again with less fear of being caught out by plummeting temperatures, icy roads, foggy conditions and gale force winds but as this is Britain we can never be totally sure, even in the Spring and Summer months, that we won’t be caught out in a torrential down pour or a thunder storm.

It doesn’t matter what you use your classic car for, whether it is a car club organised occasion, family drives, track events, pub meets, picnics, a trip to the coast or out into the countryside, a rally,  a village fete, a country show or a festival, but overwhelmingly classic car lovers share a passion, a pride and achieve a huge amount of fun and satisfaction clocking up the miles, the memories, the friendships and the experiences. This is why Bill Rawles came up with the idea for our Saturday Morning Natters & Nibbles, held at our workshop once a month during the spring and summer months. We provide a relaxed informal event for you to drive to on a Saturday morning, somewhere to have a cuppa, get a bite to eat, chat with like-minded enthusiasts, share stories, technical tips and hopefully find an answer to any of your unsolved classic car issues, meet Bill and a team member or two, browse the workshop and with pre arrangement you can put your car on one of our ramps to inspect the underneath.

With only a few weeks away before our first date, cakes, biscuits and pies are being tried and tested in the Rawles kitchen. This weekend saw a new recipe being trialled, Blueberry and Lemon Curd Cupcakes, being described in the recipe book as “these beauties live up to every cupcake expectation”. The result can be confirmed as delicious moist cupcakes with a hidden jammie bit in the middle and an empty cake tin by Monday morning. Our mornings are free of charge and you will not find any hard sales pitch or obligation to have work carried out, we simply offer these mornings borne out of our passion for cars, our love of socialising, sharing our life and family run business. We do have a collection pot for The Multiple Sclerosis Society, our chosen charity as Bill’s sister has had MS for a number of years and all we ask is if you have a spare bit of change in your pocket please leave a donation in our pot.

Sometimes we only have a few people arrive and sometimes we are overwhelmed at the turn out – but one thing that is guaranteed we are always here and the kettle will be on
