Triumph TR4A

We are pleased to offer, for sale, this fabulous 1967 Triumph TR4A IRS.

The TR4 A was built between 1965 and 1967 and was Triumphs sports car offering. The Triumph TR4A comes with a 2.1 Litre straight 4 engine producing 105 HP, making this a nippy British sports car. Especially when it only weighs 1016KG! The engine is mounted to a 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive.

This model is an IRS, which stands for independent rear suspension. The standard TR4 comes with Hotchkiss rear suspension but this car has the upgraded independent rear suspension that provides improved handling and bump sensitivity. In 1966, this new suspension system helped the TR4 to a 1,2,3 class finish at the Sebring 12 hours, strengthening this cars race pedigree.

In 2020, the engine had a full rebuild. It now sings as a result of the investment by the current owner. As well as this, the car comes with a good service history and current V5C / log book. So we can trace the history and exactly what work has been done on the car.

Whilst a great and usable chassis, it does offer an enthusiast opportunity to improve the vehicle or use as is. Therefore, there are a few minor issues, as expected of a 50+ year old car. Attached are images of some paint blemishes and scratches. The overall paint is ok but there are a few areas to note upon closer inspection. None affect the mechanical capability of the car and can be expected for a car of this age and price point.

In total, this Triumph is the perfect car for the driver who wants a car with character and style for those days when the sun is out and the roof is down; and a potential winter project for those long winter nights.
