Jaguar E-Type S1 4.2 FHC

Offered for sale is this 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1, 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe, finished in British Racing Green with a beige interior. With 84,470 miles recorded on the odometer, this example presents a great opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic post-war British sports cars in a well-sorted and ready to use condition.

The current owner acquired the car in 1993 and subsequently commissioned a body and mechanical restoration. The body was rebuilt using lead as per original factory methods and resprayed in British Racing Green during the 1990s. Whilst is has held up well, over 30 years on, there are some slight imperfections but the car has a lovely charm and honest feel. The interior was retrimmed in beige leather by a former Jaguar employee in 1996, and the overall finish remains presentable, with some age-related imperfections.

Mechanically, the car has been consistently maintained and sympathetically upgraded by both specialists and the owner. The engine was rebuilt in 1996 and refitted in early 1997, complemented by the addition of a 14½-inch Kenlowe electric fan. In 2012, the braking system was improved with new calipers featuring stainless steel pistons, and Series 2 specification pads. The front tyres were replaced in 2013, the rears in 2016, all matching Avon Turbospeed 205/70VR15s and whilst have good tread, it is recommended to replace these every 10 years.

Recent maintenance includes a clutch slave cylinder replacement in 2019, a full ignition system overhaul in 2022, and fresh coolant hoses and header tank. In late 2024, new exhaust manifolds were installed along with a high torque starter motor, further enhancing reliability for regular use.

This is a well-documented and carefully maintained example of a Series 1 E-Type, with a history of long-term, knowledgeable ownership. Presented at a very attractive price and ready to use.
