Offered for sale is this excellent Austin Healey 100M spec BN1, built on the 20th of July 1954. Presented in a desirable White over Blue colour scheme with a matching blue interior, a colour scheme reminiscent of the 100S cars.
This car has a long history with Bill Rawles Classic Cars. Used and loved by its long term owner, we have maintained the car since 2017. The vehicle has now been inherited by the family and the time has come for the car to be sold to its next enthusiastic owner.
Accompanying this car is an extensive document put together by a previous owner, detailing the history of the car, a restoration in the early 2010’and photos of the car throughout the years with some excellent period photos. Furthermore, there are extracts from the original owner’s autobiography, detailing how he enjoyed the car in the 1950’s and 60’s.
Over the past decade, an excess of £20,000 has been spent keeping the car in a great and usable state. In 2017, a new manifold heat shield was fitted, the car was converted to Alternator for usability, a 5-blade plastic fan was fitted for improved cooling, and a CSI electronic ignition distributor was fitted. In 2018 the wheels were repainted white, as seen in the accompanying photos. In 2019, the car received a new cylinder head, a new thermostat and was converted to a single 12v battery.
Being a BN1 car, this has a 3-speed gearbox with overdrive. A characterful original gearbox, the Healey has ample torque and is a joy to drive around country lanes with the overdrive unit the car is also comfortable at main road speeds, making the car suitable for country lane blasts and touring. This car also comes with a tonneau cover and folding roof, ready for all weather eventualities.

In 1953, Austin Healey ran multiple cars at Le Mans and for the road cars, a kit was assembled to enhance the performance to that similar of the race cars. The Le Mans kit features a pair of 1 3/4in carburettor with a better manifold and studs, a joint cold air box, stronger valve springs, a high-lift camshaft, a steel face cylinder head gasket and a distributor with a different advance curve, with ignition timing set at 9° BTDC.
