Austin-Healey 100 – 100S Recreation – Built in the Spirit of Mille Miglia “Special Test Car”

Combining the timeless lines of the Austin-Healey 100/4 with the performance and specification of the legendary 100S, this unique build offers approximately 200 bhp in a lightweight ≈900kg package, backed by four wheel Dunlop disc brakes and 16 inch peg drive wheels more commonly seen on Jaguar D-Types. 

Commissioned in the early 2000s by a specialist team, this car was created in the spirit of OON 439 – the Austin-Healey often referred to as “the Special Test Car” which competed in the 1954 Mille Miglia. While not a replica of that car, 446 YUN faithfully captures the essence of that competition car, while benefitting from carefully considered enhancements for road use. 

Highlights include: 

• Steel chassis with aluminium 100S substructure and full aluminium bodywork 

• Choice of cut down 100S style windscreen, full windscreen, with or without an exceptionally rare Healey 100 hardtop (included in sale)  

• Correct sand cast carburettors and other rare, painstakingly sourced components 

• Centre change Austin-Healey gearbox with overdrive, giving both spirited acceleration and relaxed motorway cruising 

• Finished in a striking metallic Aston Green, a colour that perfectly complements the car’s purposeful stance 

On the road, this Healey is nothing short of remarkable. The balance of power to weight is stunning, with a gearbox that adds real character and brakes that inspire confidence. Recent improvements, including upgraded cooling with ducting and fans, ensure it is as happy in town as it is on a country road or a long distance tour. 

The car was originally built and registered in the UK, later spending time in Sweden before being sourced and inspected by us and brought back for its current owner, who has enjoyed it thoroughly for the past five years.
