Why not plan a day out in your Classic Car

June Natters & Nibbles – Saturday 20th June 2015

Planning  a  day out in your Classic Car

Saturday 20th June 2015 is our 3rd Natters & Nibbles date of 2015, why not try and incorporate it into a day out in your classic car. We are now into summertime and live in anticipation of lazy, sunny, warm summer days. Our coffee morning normally kicks off around 10.30 O’clock and we find in the better weather it finishes when the last man goes or when the cake runs oun. In June there is usually so many things to see and do, as we make use of the better weather to plan our events.

If you are planning a day out in your classic car why not use us as your starting point or as a pit stop for a quick refuel on your journey. With so much going on in our area we would love to see you as you pass by.

Right on our door step we have The Watercress Steam Railway and this weekend is there annual event War on the line. The very popular gathering of steam train enthusiasts, vintage lovers and families can experience life on a WW II railway. There is also a planned RAF Battle of Britain memorial flight, with Hurricane and Spitfire displays.

Just over 2 miles down the road or 3 minutes away from the workshop is Jane Austen’s House Museum. Located in the Hampshire village of Chawton is Britain’s most loved writer, unimposing, unpretentious home that she lived in for the last 8 years of her life from 1809 until 1817. The house has been preserved and used as a museum where the public can get a feel for what it was like to be a woman and a writer in these times.

Also in the vicinity we have Gilbert Whites House, garden and The Oates collection. In 1720 Gilbert White was born in the pretty village of Selborne and moved to this house when he was about 7 years old. This is where he lived out his life and developed his passion for the environment and ornithology. The house is set in 30 acres of ancient parkland and is a short stroll from the start of The Zig Zag, a figure of eight walk inspired by Gilbert White himself. This weekend also sees the annual and widely acclaimed unusual plants fair.

Also a stones throw away, we have the elegant country manor and beautiful gardens of Hinton AmpnerWinchester City MillUppark House and GardensMottisfontThe VyneWest Green House Garden and the many other National Trust sites in this area. A bit further afield but we are very close to Goodwood, Chichester and West Wittering BeachThe New Forest National Park and the South Coast.

Also on this weekend, a little further from our doorstop but still could be on your itineray, incorporating Natters & Nibbles at Bill Rawles Classic Cars is 2015 MG Live at Silverstone Race Track and The Supercar Event, formerly known as ‘Dads Day Out’, held at Dunsfold, near Godalming, Surrey. This event is in its 9th year and is run in aid of The Children,s Trust, for children with brain injury. It claims to be a supercar extravaganza, with something for everyone.

If all this is not enough, of course this weekend is Father’s Day and maybe that is a good enough reason to treat yourself to a day out in your classic. Whatever your plans, if we are in your schedule, then we would love to see you.
